Bernie Boston was an American photojournalist. He was well-known for his photograph, Flower Power, which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Boston graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and then served in the Army before starting his career in news photography in Dayton, Ohio. He moved back to Washington, where he was born, to work at the newspaper, the Star. The newspaper discontinued in 1981; at the time he was director of photography.
The Los Angeles Times hired him to set up a photo operation in the nation’s capital.
Throughout his career he covered every president from Harry S. Truman to Bill Clinton.
